Depression Medications
These are some of the drugs I've taken over the years. I'm goin to rate each one, and how they work in conjunction with my condition which is classifed by the medical community as bipolar2. As I explaind on my HomePage I'm not advocating SSRIs for anyone suffering from Bipolar. My friends, and many of you whom I've met through this website have also had similar problems with SSRIs. I'm also on this page going to discuss exactly what medications I'm currently taking which I feel for me, and others I've talked to have had a profoundly positive impact on their lives. |

Depacote
Wellbutrin
Risperdal
Klonapin
I'm currently taking 1000 mg of Depacote a day. I take 500mg in the morning as soon as I wake up, and another 500mg at around 3:00pm in the afternoon. I'm also takeing Wellbutrin 100 mg in the morning, along with 1mg klonapin. For those suffering from Bipolar, I've done tons of research on why this "Cocktail", works for me. At first I was extremely apprehensive about putting all these drugs in my body. However I soon realized that the effects of me not taking these drugs were astronomical, when compared to the financial, emotional, and life threating, repercussions of my not taking them. For anyone who has Bipolar a mood stabilizer is a must. I personally like Depacote, as opposed to Lithium which after doing my own research seems to have less side effects. Depacote helps me control those Grandiose feelings I used to get, as well, as those long cycles of depression I used to get. This is why I truly believe if you do have bipolar make sure your on a mood stabilizer. In the beginning you might feel a little tired, slow, Etc, however give the medication some time to work. It took me about two months to get fully acclimated to the medications I'm now taking with terrifc results!. I also recommend if you were self medicating like I was, weather that be Marijuana, meth, Heroin, cocaine, alcohol, etc.......quit self medicating once you start taking your meds. The goal is to see how these drugs interact with your body, and your never going to get a definitive picture of how these drugs work if your self medicating all the time.
Wellbutrin, what can I say about Wellbutrin? I guess in my case the seconds time worked like a charm!. I took Wellbutrin for the first time about a year and a half ago with mixed result. Before we go any further let me make something very clear, make sure you tell your doctor you want the TIME RELEASED VERSION. I took the non TIME RELEASED version the first time, and it put me into a manic state. I was also taking 200mg a day with no mood stabalizer.....not a good idea for someone who has Bipolar. I'm now taking 100mg of the time released version in the morning, along with 500mg of Depacote, and 1mg klonopin. It took me time to figure out what worked for me. I don't feel those suffering from Bipolar having anything to lose from adhering to the same approach. Also remember to consult with your doctor before trying this approach, this is extremely important. Another very important thing for any of you who haven't had any significant results from the medications your currently taking, The true measure of INSANITY IS DOING SOMETHING OVER AND OVER AGAIN AND EXPECTING different RESULTS" Anthony Robbins". If the medications you currently taking aren't working for you contact your doctor immediately. Also if your doctor, pshychioatrisit, therapist, isn't receptive to you, find a new one. Finding the right doctor in my case who's had over 25 years of experience in this field, literally changed my life!
